Not Just a Name - Veterans and War Support
The Military history of Australia spans the nation's 230-year modern history, from the early Australian frontier wars between Aboriginals and Europeans to the ongoing conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The battlefields of Gallipoli, The Somme, Bullecourt, Tobruk, El Alamein and Long Tan are evoked in our communities during ANZAC day ceremonies but do we remember those Australians that gave their lives at Beersheba, Bin Ba, Chora, Kujin, Mafekin, Pao-ting Fu, Shah Wali Kol, Yongui and many other fields upon which the blood of our nation has been shed.
Every Australian household has a photograph of a member of their family that has severed our nation in, or in support of, our military forces in times of military conflict and peacekeeping.
Their names and service have been relegated to the fog of forgotten past memories.
Let us bring their image and service back to their own community.
Let us honour their service.
Let us ensure that they no longer remain just a Name.
